More Updates!

I have so many things to talk about, ahhh!! I've made a
lot of progress in the past 3 days so I've decided to combine my updates into one blog post so I don't just have a bunch of short blog posts all within the span of a single hour

Update 1: I finally got over my social anxiety and actually called the hotel to schedule the photoshoot! According to the lady on the phone, I can only shoot Monday-Thursday and there's a 475 dollar fee, but she did say she would talk to her manager about getting me a discount, since its a school project. I should be able to get a pretty fair price for the shoot so I'm not really worried, but if I can't, Gus has already found another place we can shoot both of our magazines for very free, so we might just end up using that location. In addition, I've called a few other similar places to see if we can shoot there and I'm just waiting on a response.

The email I got back from the Biltmore Staff
Update 2: I went to the store last night and bought some magazines that I'm going to cut up and use to make the physical draft of my issue. I chose the most recent edition of Elle and Allure because it has a lot of shots that I like and would like to replicate and because they're both fashion magazines, though not the same category I'm in (I guess Publix just doesn't to care about high fashion avant-garde.) I'm going to work on building it tonight `and for the next week.

Update 3: I've figured out what I want my models to wear. I've decided in order to make it more out there and alternative, I'm going to mix the flower crowns with streetwear to create a more off-tilt (i hate using this word) "hipster" look. So I'm going to be mixing in hoodies, trousers, and sneakers to offset the elegance of the flower pieces and make it look more alternative. I've also decided to switch from using "avant-garde" to "alternative" because I think it better represents the concept I'm going for, so from this paragraph forward, it's alternative!

Update 4: Tomorrow I have the first session with my shadow model to start creating the basic wire cage for their piece! In preparation for our fitting, and in order to not waste my model's time, I did two trial runs with my mom and my brother to practice building the cage's structure. The attempt on my brother is pictured to the left and even though the wire isn't really visible because I was used this very thin bronze wire that I had left over from another project, it came out pretty well and I'm super satisfied with my first attempt. I think my fitting tomorrow is going to go really well and I'm really excited to start working with my model on their individual costumes. In the upcoming week, I'm also hoping to meet up with my sun model and do our first "dress rehearsal" since her costume is complete! I'm going to be practicing her makeup look and making some final adjustments to her flower piece.

That's all for today, but I have some really big news coming up soon so stay tuned.

Signing off now
-Isa
